Mideast UK Route
A scenic section of Britain's Rail Network for Microsoft Train Simulator, Mideast UK can be added to an order for the RailDriver™ Desktop Train Cab Controller free of charge. It can also be ordered separately at a small fee to cover the cost of shipping and handling.
Set between 1977-1980, this route represents an interesting period for Britain's railways. Old diesels were seeing their last days, as were railways as government-owned concerns. Privatization was on the horizon. Still, the summer of 1977 is remembered with fondness by many for the Queen's Silver Jubilee. During this time, railways were at their busiest and their best.
Included in the Mideast UK Route CD is a full set of activities and trains from this period, including the 1977 Royal Train and several 'exclusive' Locomotives. The route covers from London in the south, to the town of Retford in South Yorkshire, and from Shirebrook in the East Midlands Coalfield east to the wetlands of East Anglia.
Where else can you deliver coal from a mine to a power station through countryside once patrolled by characters such as Robin Hood and Dick Turpin, drive a local train through ancient cities with castles and cathedrals, or drive a high-speed train along the historic rails of the East Coast Main Line — the real home of the Flying Scotsman and the route of the world speed record for steam.
